Employer Profile

Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is responsible for the biggest infrastructure

investment ever undertaken in Victoria. SRLA will shape our city and state for

future generations, ensuring Melbourne remains one of the world’s most liveable

cities.

SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill will connect major employment, health,

education and retail destinations in Melbourne’s east and south east. The line will

slash travel times, connect people travelling on the Gippsland corridor and building

it will create up to 8000 direct jobs. Construction started in June 2022 and trains

will be running by 2035.

Beyond the rail line, SRL will open up a host of new social and economic

opportunities for hundreds of thousands of Victorians by creating greater access to jobs, health

services, education and a diverse range of quality and affordable housing. Greater

investment, thoughtful urban planning and local projects that build on the character and

qualities of the local communities will ensure they continue to be vibrant, safe and attractive neighbourhoods as Melbourne grows.
